[Travel] Taiwan Day #02 p1

Backdated Taiwan Trip pictures Part #02 Part 1.
<Post Scheduled on 06/09/2011>
After yesterday’s visit to Ximen Ding and Shuda Night Market…
I resumed my tour around Taiwan with the visit to
Chiang Kai Shiek Memorial Hall
Jiu Fen
Apparently this place is called Jiu Fen – Chinese for 9 portions. There used to be 9 Households on this mountain and when they went down the mountain for grocery shopping, they used to always buy 9 portions, with the passing of time, everyone then called this place Jiu Fen because of the 9 portion of items which they always bought.

As usual, do your homework and don’t come on a public holiday!

Jiu fen is also the home of some Taiwan Delicacies
Blurry non focused sausage!

BBQ Mushrooms – Awesome stuff.

Malt Candy

Ice-cream wrap – Awesome stuff.

For this delicacy, the man scrapes the peanut block with a wooden shaver

Then a scoop of ice-cream is added to the wrap and its wrapped into a neat roll.

Awesome during hot summers!
~
Since Jiu Fen is a mountain…

There must be a peak!

Will be back here when i have my full selection of lenses. Not wide enough!
While coming back down the mountain,

We dropped by a souvenir shop.

These are traditional chinese taiwan lanterns called Tian Deng – Chinese for Heaven’s Light.
We got to try this later at night.

While in Taiwan, I also saw the effect of japanese influence in the populace…

Part 2 will be out tomorrow on 07th Sept.
